Today we woke up feeling not particularly bright and breezy. We managed to drag ourselves to breakfast but need not have bothered. It was a local breakfast of sweet bread, egg curry and warm lettuce. Amongst other Malaysian specialities.
We then walked to the Jetty point in Kuah town and hired a car for the day. At first I did my maths wrong but got there in the end, twelve pound for a days car hire. It was an odd process, we paid then were ushered into a car with driver and then drove to what appears to be his Grannies house to pick up the car. It was an unknown Asian brand and had the same capacity as a lawnmower but it got us around the Island.
We headed straight to the Geopark for the cable car, but it had a technical fault and was closed today. Bad times. So we consoled ourselves with a trip to the nearby Seven Wells Waterfall.
We got back on the road and headed to Black Beach. A beach that apparently has black sand because land folk set fire to the beach to fear off mermaids.
Last stop of the day was Cenang Beach. We ate some Malay food before going onto the beach with an ice cream. The sand is white white white and the water is blue. There are low level buildings only at the minute, give it ten years when the high rise buildings set in it will be spoilt completely.
Now to drop our little car off before our treat tomorrow. A day sailing on a catamaran ♡
